Human society is able to cooperate due to certain rituals and behavior.
If we called someone fat or ugly, we are less likely to get their support.
But level of fakeness depends on the society. Some are more extreme than others based on culture of default respect given to some segments.
For eg. In Indian, Elders are given default respect even it they are idiots. So we are more likely to fake it than other societies to not call out the nonsense.
