Festivals have originated from a time where society was very different from what it is today.
Many festivals like Rakhi, Karwa Chauth, Bhai Duj, etc may appear patriarchal from today’s lens but probably made sense in different times and context. We shouldn’t forget we had child marriage and Sati too.
